BUILDING INSPECTOR & CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

The City of Sealy is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer.  Under the general direction of the Community Development Director, this position is responsible for interpreting building codes and regulations, inspecting plumbing, gas, electrical, and mechanical installations and materials, reading plans and source documents, reviewing plans, investigating complaints, communicating effectively with offending property/establishment owners to explain applicable ordinances and rectify issues, and issuing citations for violations when necessary.  Candidates for this position must have knowledge of legal procedures involving enforcement of building codes and ordinances, knowledge of inspection and training techniques, and knowledge of City codes and approved installation methods.  Minimum qualifications are 4 years of experience as a building inspector, planner, or contractor, high school diploma or GED, valid Texas driver’s license, and must pass a drug screening and physical.  Interested candidates must complete and submit a City of Sealy employment application to Human Resources.  Hourly salary range is $19.00-$29.66.  The City of Sealy is an equal opportunity employer.
