Building and Health Permit and Inspections - Code Enforcement

We currently contract with Bureau Veritas for most of the City's high volume of residential and commercial building inspections. We also contract with CURT Services for all of the City's fire inspections and fire plan reviews. ALL permits and applications are processed through the Planning Department at 405 Main Street, Sealy, Texas and all other site plans, development plans, and code compliance reviews are performed by City Staff or the City's Engineer. 

Building Permits begin with the application for the construction or repair, along with appropriate documents required to be submitted with the application.  See Permit Applications and see Plan Review Checklists in the documents below.

  • Other Permitting and Inspections
    • Contractor registrations
    • Building permitting and inspections (residential, commercial, accessory structures, signs, roofs, and fences when > 7 feet in height)
    • MEP (Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing permitting and inspections) (Residential and Commercial plan reviews and inspections are done primarily by a 3rd party inspector, but permitting and inspections are coordinated by the Permitting Administrative Tech)
    • Fire Suppression and System permitting and inspections (Fire plan reviews and inspections are done by a 3rd party inspector, but permitting and inspections are coordinated by the Permitting Administrative Tech)

  • Code Enforcement 
    • High weeds and grass
    • Accumulation of rubbish, brush, construction debris, and garbage
    • Noncompliant Lighting (on structures, parking lots, or signs)
    • Noncompliant signs (repairs needed, unpermitted, prohibited due to size, location or lighting) 
    • Unsafe structures or nuisance structures in need of repair
    • Abandon, inoperable or junked vehicles 
    • Illegal dumping
    • Construction requiring a permit (when a permit is required)
    • Swimming Pool nuisance
    • Any other nuisance conditions (Unsanitary, unsafe, unhealthy, unkept property; dangerous or noxious materials or matter)
